Storytellers and Elders fill an important role in each tribe, passing on to the future generations the customs, beliefs and history of their culture. Teaching through the interpretation of stories they learned from their elders, who learned before them, and then adding their own experiences to the stories.

The stories are the foundation that keeps the faily and tribe together. Their content can range from stories of creation, religion, the healing of the sick; and general education that covers song and dance, tribal regalia, the meaning of Mother Earth and the Indian Way.
